Feedback from St Mawes Harbour Master.
A Pilot Cutter had to be assisted in moving its anchoring position to avoid being in the way of the Gig Boat Racing.
The Harbour Master in has launch went close and slow past all Pilot cutters whist they were at anchor and not one acknowledged his presence.
Classic Sailing considers this down right rude, Cornwall is not a stand-off place, we like to welcome visitors but we do like to be acknowledged in return. Let’s hope the other Harbour authorities have not had similar problems. Adam has a made an apology to the Harbour Master on behalf of the Pilot Cutters and promised to ensure a better attitude in the future.
It would be highly appreciated that if the harbour master lets us come back in 2019 that the Pilot Cutter skippers brief their crew so that as many peoples as possible can acknowledge the Harbour Master and his staff and show some gratitude for the free anchoring we have had and hope to have in the future.
These questions were asked during the event.
Question 1 When is the Pilot Cutter Review in 2019
23rd to 26th May 2019
Question 2 Handicap Information prior to Racing.
Yes we can provide the handicap rating to pilot cutters prior to the Race, and if it changes during the event.
Question 3 Why does Classic Sailing Sponsor the Event.
Classic Sailing is happy to sponsor the Pilot Cutter Review because it is one of the ways we can help promote sailing on Pilot Cutters. It is good to involve commercial and private pilot cutters and also to be involved with other vessels beyond the fleet of vessels Classic Sailing normally works with.
Question 4 How much does it Cost to run the event
In 2018 Classic Sailing spent as follows
Catering and hospitality 2 events £562
Total Direct Costs £1004.
In addition it took 5 days staff time during the event plus administrative time before and after event.
As ever glorious fun, many thanks to all from Adam.
