Whether you come to spectate the ships from the shore and enjoy the entertainment on land, or you sail into the cities as part of the guest crew and be part of the spectacle, the Tall Ships Race is always an event for the diary.

Aalborg, Denmark

This will be the Fifth time the Denmark city will have hosted the tall ships races, cultural Aalborg is the located in the North of Jutland. Why not sail to the start of the tall ships race, enjoy the festivities and either extend your stay in the city or join leg one of the race?

Race One - Aalborg, Denmark to Fredrikstad, Norway

Race One of the Tall Ships Race 2019 kicks off on the 3rd July with a Parade of Sail in the Fjord Town of Aalborg. More than 90 ships will gather here to create a scene out on the water. On land there will be plenty of musical and cultural entertainment for all the crew members and visitors to the event. 

Race One: Aalborg, Denmark to Fredrikstad, Norway - 3rd July until 14th July (Shorter Race with Waypoints - this voyage)

FREDRIKSTAD, NORWAY

Following two successful events, Fredrikstad will be hosting for the third time. The city has a long shipping and maritime history, and boasts the stunning Outer Oslo Fjord archipelago.

Leg Two - Cruise in Company in the Norwegian Fjords - Fredrikstad, Norway to Bergen, Norway

Leg two of the race takes a more relaxed approach and offers those who enjoy sailing beautiful ships without the pressure of the tall ships race. This is a more relaxed leg and ideal for those who love the spectacle of tall ships sailing together with an opportunity to explore the beautiful Norwegian coast and the fjords. 

BERGEN, NORWAY

Bergen is extremely proud of its status as a UNESCO World Heritage City. It boasts an enviable location surrounded by seven mountains, and has a positive reputation as a festival city. Bergen has hosted the Tall Ships Races four times previously… this will be its fifth.

Race Three - Bergen, Norway to Aarhus, Denmark

The Last leg of the tall ships race, from Norway to Denmark is the longest. Taking about 8 days, this leg will be the toughest and most exhilarating! When you arrive in the final port of Aarhus, the festivities will commence and an enormous celebration will begin. 

AARHUS, DENMARK

Aarhus has a long-standing relationship with the sea, and it can trace its maritime history back to the Vikings. The city is committed to encouraging young people to get involved with sail training – it also has a dedicated program for those with disabilities.
